open to the public on the first
Saturday of the month, from Noon to 5:00 PM. All
are invited to come in and browse, chat with the artists at work and
become a patron of the arts!
Now with three floors of studios, you'll need the whole day to see us all!

| Directions:
From Boston: Take
Route 93 North to Route 495 South towards Lowell and the Lowell
Connector.
From New Hampshire: Take
Route 3 South to the Lowell Connector. From
Waltham: Take Route 128 North to Route 3 North and the Lowell
Connector. |
From the Lowell Connector: Take
the Lowell Connector to the Thordike Street exit. After the third
set of traffic signals bear right, just before the overpass. At the
second set of traffic signals, take a left on Middlesex Street.
Follow Middlesex Street past the Lowell Boys & Girls Club. Bear
right after the Police station. At the next set of traffic signals,
turn right onto School Street, and then right on Western Ave. The
artist studios are located at 122 Western Ave., which is the last
building on the right. Follow signs to the top floor.

Lowell: Take Dutton Street to Broadway. Follow Broadway to
the second set of traffic signals. Take a left on School Street,
and then your second left onto Western Avenue. |

Stone carving classes & workshops:
Beginners stone carving: Learn
the basics of hand carving alabaster and marble, including proper tool use and
safety.
Hand carving slate: Learn the
basics of hand lettering and how to carve them into slate, using traditional
techniques. Covers proper tool use and safety, and a brief history of the
traditional stone carved memorial.
Intermediate stone carving: For the
carver who has learned the basics of hand carving alabaster and marble, but
wishes to try using power tools and pneumatic hammers in the creative journey.
Mold making & casting:
Moldmaking 101: Learn the basics of
traditional moldmaking. Plaster waste molds and flexible rubber blanket
molds will be discussed and demonstrated during this overview.
Advanced moldmaking: Flexible rubber
molds will be the focus of this course. We will cover a range of
techniques, from production "glove" and "mother"
molds for plaster casting to molds for the use in bronze casting, using
the lost wax process.
